Felted Woolies
Felted Woolies are things made from reclaimed, recycled wool. I find wool at thrift stores and garage sales. I clean it, felt it or unravel it, and make new things. I seem to have a bit of trouble focusing on just one project--so I make a lot of different things, practical and not so practical.

New style of owl for me
I normally make the simple owl from a modified cone shape. A couple of those are in this photo. I tried something new this week. They are fun! I'm hoping to have 50 new owls before Country Living Fair in Columbus in mid September. .

I love when my creations find a soul mate
I was just about to close up shop Saturday at an art show. It had been an okay day, but not great. This delightful young woman swooped in a scooped up my red and black kitty. The young woman was dressed in red and black, including some tasteful black lace on her skirt. She loved Kitty and took her home with her. It was meant to be. You notice Kitty doesn't have a skirt? Kitty INSISTED she wanted black lace for her skirt, and I didn't have any. I can't go BUY what I need at a regular store. I have to find it in a thrift store or auction or garage sale. And I didn't have any black lace. So I made Kitty a vest and left it at that.

Three new sweater kitties
I'm really having fun with these girls... Remember, I have two boys and I never got to play with dolls with my boys. They have such different personalities.
It is such a joy to make "something out of nothing." Remember, everything in my stuffed toys is recycled except the thread. I stuff with wool scraps. I make the clothes out of leftovers or out of clothing. The green check skirt above is a men's shirt. The floral skirts are vintage fabrics from a big lot I found for almost nothing at an auction. The sweaters are from, obviously, sweaters. All of the clothing is removable. I'm debating making extra outfits for some of the kitties. My biggest issue with that is the size. Since I don't make all the kitties the same size, but rather use the size of the original sweater to dictate the size of the kitty, I can't make outfits that fit just any one of my kitties. Hmmm... I might have to make them a standard size. But that takes away some of the delight. Some have thick legs and arms, some thin. Some are chubby, some are not. Some are tall, some short. I think they will each just get one outfit.
